Eat. Drink. Be Merry!
A time when it’s acceptable to eat chocolates for breakfast, spoonfeed yourself a mixture of butter, sugar and brandy straight from the bowl, and pickle yourself in your alcoholic poison of choice. All from the comfort of the sofa while watching back-to-back festive films.
Go for it. Enjoy yourself and don’t think twice. Don’t feel guilty about that third mince pie. Don’t replace your three-bird roast with a kale smoothie.
An important part of physical and mental health is simply being happy occasionally. And sharing food with family and friends on special occasions brings happiness.
What you do between Christmas and New Year is much less important than what you do between New Year and Christmas.
A few days sat on the sofa gobbling too much turkey and figgy pudding won’t do you too much harm. In fact, the rest will do you good. Christmas comes but once a year. Squeeze every moment of joy from it while it lasts.
But remember – Christmas really does come but once a year. If, come March, you’re still sat on the sofa watching re-runs of Only Fools and Horses with a mouthful of Quality Streets, you’re in trouble.
